NoSQL and PostgreSQL: Complimentary Workflows
In a data landscape that wants to support more and more inputs, how can we leverage the distinctive strengths of an RDBMS like PostgreSQL? Factual inserts PostgreSQL as a real-time, semi-persistent data cache in front of a NoSQL-style data store. Our core architecture is designed to process multiple inputs and provide different views of large-volume input data; PostgreSQL provides the responsiveness and rich featureset that users have become accustomed to after years of RDBMS-style workflows.
This talk focuses on how PostgreSQL can be used to surface features not available in batch job, hadoop-/NoSQL architectures, some of our deployment challenges and success stories, and a short demo of the Factual ecosystem for open data.
